Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 750 g flour
  • 1 cube of yeast
  • 350 ml milk, lukewarm
  • Salt
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 100 g butter, soft
  • 200 g cooked ham, cut into small pieces
  • 200 g cheese, grated (Provolone, alternatively Emmental)
  • 3 tbsp Italian herbs

Instructions

Working time approx. 35 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 2 hours 45 minutes

for bruschetta or crostini

Dissolve the yeast in a little warm milk and knead it with the remaining dough ingredients. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour. Then divide the dough into three equal pieces. Knead the cooked ham into one piece, the grated cheese into another, and the Italian herbs into another. Shape each piece into a long roll, then braid it and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let the plait rest for 30 minutes. Then bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 40 minutes. Cut the plait into slices and toast the slices in a pan.
