Ingredients

  • 250 g Fresh dates
  • 10 Dates for decoration
  • 100 g Ground hazelnuts
  • 100 g Chopped almonds
  • 80 g Sugar
  • 60 g Liquid butter
  • 4 Eggs
  • 1 tbsp Honey
  • 1 packet Vanilla sugar
  • 30 g Starch
  • 200 g Powdered sugar
  • Lemon juice
  • Orange blossom water

Instructions

  • First cut the 250g dates into small pieces. These will then mix with the hazelnuts and almonds. Now the sugar, butter and honey are stirred in.
  • The eggs are separated. Whip the egg yolks with the vanilla sugar and a tablespoon of orange blossom water until creamy. Carefully mix the date mixture into the egg mixture and add the starch. The egg white is beaten until stiff and also lifted into the mass.
  • Grease a round springform pan or line it with baking paper and fill in the batter. Now bake the cake in the preheated oven at 220 ° degrees top-bottom heat for 20 minutes. If the cake becomes too dark on top, simply cover it with baking paper.
  • After baking, remove the cake from the pan and let it cool. Mix the icing sugar, lemon juice and some water into a glaze and spread it on the finished cake. The dates for decoration are halved and then laid out as an ornament on the glaze, which is still liquid. Enjoy your meal! =)
