Turkey and bacon braid

Spread the love

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 3 turkey schnitzels
  • 6 slices of bacon
  • 6 tbsp maple syrup
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

BBQ starter that is always a hit with kids too.

As always, start by lighting the coals in a chimney starter. Cut the turkey cutlets in half lengthwise, so that they are about 5 to 6 cm wide. Now make another lengthwise cut to create strips about 2.5 to 3 cm wide. Be careful not to cut all the way through on the second cut, otherwise you will have to tie the braids on both sides. Fold a strip of bacon lengthwise and place it in the middle of two turkey strips. Braid the three strands from the outside in like a braid. Tie the end of the braid with a piece of string. Brush the braids well with maple syrup and season with a little pepper and a very small amount of salt. The salt can be omitted completely for very spicy or salty bacon. Grill the braids until they are nicely colored and cooked through. This takes about 15 minutes.
