Turkish apple turnovers

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 250 g margarine
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar (heaped tbsp)
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • 10 tbsp oil
  • 3 tbsp natural yogurt
  • 500 g flour
  • 3 large apples
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 6 tbsp powdered sugar for coating
  • 2 tsp cinnamon for tossing

Instructions

Working time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

enough for about 30 pieces

First, prepare the filling. Coarsely grate the apples and mix with the sugar and cinnamon. Simmer for about 10 minutes, then let cool. Mix all the ingredients for the dough. Add the flour last. Note: The dough should have a consistency that allows for shaping. Therefore, you’ll need quite a bit of flour. Estimate around 500g – maybe a little more or less. Once the dough is easily pliable, tear off walnut-sized pieces. Place them on the table and press them flat and round with your fingers. Add 1 teaspoon of filling to each piece and fold them from one side to the other (unfortunately, I don’t have a picture of this, but it looks roughly like a “D”). Place the apple turnovers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 15-20 minutes. However, it’s better to focus on the color of the apple turnovers rather than the time. As soon as they’re slightly pinkish, they’re ready to take them out of the oven. In a plate, mix 5-6 tablespoons of powdered sugar with 2 teaspoons of cinnamon and toss the apple turnovers in it.
