Turkish beef

Spread the love

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 1 kg beef (rump, topside, lower leg)
  • 450 g green beans (frozen)
  • 6 m.-sized potatoes
  • 6 tomatoes
  • 4 onions
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 200 g cheese (e.g. Emmental), grated
  • salt and pepper
  • possibly broth, granulated
  • Fat
  • Crème fraîche

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Cut the beef into bite-sized pieces. Season generously with salt, pepper, and perhaps a little broth, and brown all over in a pan with a little fat. Meanwhile, thaw the beans, peel and dice the potatoes, dice the tomatoes (peel them too if necessary), finely dice the garlic, and slice the onion into rings. Transfer the seared beef to a sufficiently large casserole dish, scatter the green beans over the beef, sprinkle with the garlic, layer the potatoes on top, then the diced tomatoes, and finally the onion rings. Season occasionally. Cover and bake in a preheated oven (200°C) for about 1 hour and 15 minutes. After this time, remove the lid, sprinkle with the cheese, and return it to the oven for about half an hour until the cheese browns. Serve with a dollop of crème fraîche, if desired.
