Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 cups of rice (Turkish)
  • 2 tbsp margarine
  • 2 tbsp noodles (rice noodles)
  • 5 tbsp oil (sunflower or vegetable oil)
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 piece(s) sugar cube

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Pilaf

First, the rice must be washed thoroughly. To do this, place the rice in a bowl/measuring jug and fill with boiling water. Now leave the rice in the water for at least 45 minutes, then place the rice in a sieve and wash it again under running water until the water runs clear. Heat the margarine in a deep pan and fry the rice noodles until browned. Now add the rice and oil and fry the rice lightly, stirring constantly, until it becomes slightly translucent. Add 2 cups of boiling water, mix in the sugar cubes and salt, and cover the pan with a lid. Once the water is boiling, turn the heat down and let the rice simmer on low for about 15 minutes. Remove the pan from the heat, cover the rice with a tea towel/kitchen towel, put the lid on, and let it stand for a few minutes. Done!
