Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 450 g swede(s)
  • 2 m.-large apples, sour
  • 1 onion(s), cut into 1-cm thick slices, into rings
  • 1 tsp nutmeg, freshly grated
  • salt and pepper
  • 60 ml oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Scrub the turnips thoroughly under cold water with a stiff brush. Trim the stem and root ends, peel the turnips, and cut them into 1-cm cubes. Place the cubes in a pot with enough salted water to cover and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes, until they are slightly tender but not fully cooked. Drain well. Peel and core the apples, and cut them into 1-cm cubes. Heat the oil in a large frying pan. Once the oil is shimmering and almost smoking, add the turnips, apples, and onion rings to the pan, season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg, and brown for 8 to 10 minutes, turning frequently. It’s a great accompaniment to turkey or pork.
