Tyrolean cheese dumplings

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 300 g white bread, stale
  • 4 eggs
  • 125 ml milk
  • 1 onion(s)
  • Salt
  • nutmeg
  • 100 g butter
  • 150 g cheese, e.g. Emmental
  • 60 g flour

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Nice and spicy

Cut the bread into thin slices. Whisk the eggs with the milk and pour over the bread. Sauté the peeled, finely chopped onion in butter until translucent, then let it cool. Finely dice the cheese and add it to the bread along with the flour. Mix well, season with salt and nutmeg. Form 8-10 dumplings from the mixture, place them in gently simmering salted water, and let them simmer for about 15 minutes.
