Tyrolian Nut Cake

The perfect tyrolian nut cake recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 300 g Butter at room temperature
  • 300 g Sugar
  • 7 piece Eggs
  • 200 g Block chocolate
  • 200 g Ground hazelnuts
  • 200 g Flour
  • 1 packet Baking powder
  • 1 packet Vanilla sugar
  • 200 g Couverture
  1. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees
  2. Separate the eggs, grate the block chocolate into small pieces.
  3. Beat the egg yolks with the sugar and vanilla sugar for about 1 minute until frothy. Add butter at room temperature and stir everything together.
  4. Stir the flour, hazelnuts, chocolate shavings and baking powder into the egg, sugar and butter mixture.
  5. Beat the egg whites into stiff snow and carefully fold them into the dough.
  6. Fill into the prepared cake tin and bake in the oven for about 1 hour. After 50 minutes, use a long needle / metal kebab skewer, etc. to check whether the cake is ready, and bake for a few more minutes if necessary.
  7. When the cake is ready, remove it from the mold and let it cool on a wire rack.
  8. Melt the couverture in a water bath and brush the cake with it.
