Tzatziki as I brought it back from Crete

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 500 g Greek yogurt
  • 1 cucumber(s)
  • 4 garlic cloves, fresh
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Stir the Greek yogurt thoroughly; it will be very thick (please don’t mind this). Peel the cucumber and coarsely grate it or cut it into fine julienne strips. Salt the cooked cucumber and wait until the cucumber juice separates. In the meantime, peel the garlic cloves and press them into the yogurt. Place the cucumber in a clean cloth and squeeze out the juice. Add the dried cucumber to the yogurt and stir in. Let it sit for a while, then season with salt (carefully) and pepper. Tastes delicious with gyros, but also with fresh homemade bread.
