Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g minced beef
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 tbsp tomato paste (or ketchup)
  • 3 tbsp horseradish, freshly grated
  • 125 g yogurt
  • 3 onions, finely diced
  • 4 pickled gherkins (or pickled cucumbers), diced
  • 2 apples, diced
  • 2 clove(s) garlic, chopped
  • 5 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp paprika powder, sweet
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Stir the minced meat, eggs, tomato paste, horseradish, and yogurt with a wooden spoon until smooth. Add the cucumbers, onions, garlic, and apples and stir thoroughly. Season with salt, pepper, and sweet paprika. Let the mixture rest for at least 30 minutes. Heat the oil in a wide roasting pan until very hot and add the mixture. Roast for 10-15 minutes, stirring constantly (the liquid should evaporate and the mixture should become slightly crumbly). Serve with white bread, rice, and, if desired, various (tomato) sauces.
