Cucumbers are healthy and refreshing snacks between meals. They are low in calories and contain many vitamins and minerals. It’s all the more annoying when you don’t know what to do with a cucumber in your fridge and the vegetable then spoils. You can use cucumbers for a variety of purposes, even if they are no longer quite as crunchy.

  • Cucumber Salad: Slice the cucumber with a cucumber slicer. Mix up a dressing of vinegar, oil, salt, pepper, dill, and some tap water. Leave the cucumber salad in the refrigerator for at least half an hour.
  • Healthy spread: Use your cucumber to make a spread by slicing it up and tossing it under the granulated cream cheese. Season it to stay and enjoy the spread on a fresh bread roll.
  • Greek tzatziki: With Greek yogurt and a good portion of garlic, the spread can also be converted into Greek tzatziki. If you don’t use it all, you can freeze the leftover tzatziki.
  • Smoothie: Put a cucumber, an apple, some ginger, the juice of a lemon, 200 ml water, and sweetener to taste (e.g. honey) in a blender. This way you can also use a cucumber that is already a bit softer. Tip: The smoothie tastes particularly good chilled.

  • Cucumber Lemonade: Steep cucumbers, basil, lime juice, and simple syrup in hot water. Strain the mixture into a liter of mineral water and refrigerate overnight. This is how you get summer cucumber lemonade.
  • Cucumber Water: A classic for those who like it a little healthier. Put a few slices of cucumber and lemon in a bottle of water the night before. Put the mixture in the fridge overnight and enjoy refreshing cucumber water the next day. The drink is also good to take to work.
  • Cocktail topping: sip pickle water during work and indulge in a gin and tonic or non-alcoholic cocktail after work in the evening. Cucumber slices in a cocktail not only give off a refreshing taste, but they also give the drink a special look.
