Don’t Pour Out the Cucumber Brine: 5 Culinary Uses

Cucumber brine can be used in soup, marinade for meat, and even in baking. Cucumber brine is known to adults as an excellent hangover cure. However, this is not the only useful property of brine. The pickling liquid can be added to baked goods, used to marinate meat, or used to make soup.

Cucumber brine marinade for meat

Cucumber brine is a great marinade for chicken or beef. Not only does it add flavor to the meat, but it also softens the meat fibers and reduces cooking time.

To make the marinade, add a couple of spoonfuls of sunflower oil, chopped garlic cloves, and mustard seeds to the cucumber brine. Leave the meat in the marinade for 6-8 hours and cook it in the oven or on the grill. You can also pour the brine over kebabs or chops.

Brine as a substitute for vinegar

Cucumber brine will be appropriate for those dishes that use vinegar. It can be added to borscht or vinaigrette to prevent beets from staining other vegetables. Brine will complement the taste of shredded cabbage or vegetable salad, you can marinate vegetables in it.

Bread made with cucumber brine

Homemade bread can be made with the addition of cucumber brine. The brine will add spice to the baked goods and make them puffy. To make the bread, replace half of the water, kefir, or milk in the recipe with the brine.

Brine pickle with cucumber brine

Brine pickle has such a name for a reason. Cucumber brine will never be superfluous in this soup. It is usually added at the very end, 10 minutes before the end of cooking.

Cucumber brine for potatoes and pasta

Cucumber brine can be used to warm up yesterday’s pasta. To do this, add a spoonful of brine to a bowl of pasta or pasta, stir, and heat in the microwave. The dish will be as good as new and will also take on a tangy flavor. Also, brine is added to the water when boiling potatoes, so they don’t boil and stay whole.
