Vegetable Onions with Spicy Filling

The perfect vegetable onions with spicy filling recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 1000 g 4 Gemüsezwiebeln à 250 g

  • 6 piece Rocket leaves for garnish
  1. Peel the vegetable onions, cut the roots smooth so that the onion can stand. Cut off the tip approx. 2 cm each. Cook the onions with the sections in salted water (2 teaspoons of salt) for about 8-10 minutes and carefully remove everything with the ladle. Remove the inner rings with the help of a small spoon. Cut the sections and what has been removed into small pieces. Peel and finely dice the garlic cloves. Dice the cheese slices and boiled ham. Put everything (chopped onion pieces, garlic clove cubes, cheese cubes and boiled ham cubes) in a large bowl, add the cooking cream (4 tbsp) and mix everything well. Fill the hollowed out vegetable onions with it and divide the rest in 2 casserole dishes. Place the vegetable onions (2 pieces each) on top and bake in the preheated oven at 200 ° C for about 18-20 minutes. Garnish with rocket leaves and serve.
