Vitamin C – these fruits are full of it
Vitamin C is healthy: The vitamin not only strengthens your immune system but also helps build connective tissue. To make your search easier, we have put together a selection of foods that are rich in vitamin C.
- The classics are of course the citrus fruits. These are oranges, grapefruits, and lemons. Surprisingly, these fruits do not contain the most vitamin C.
- Fruits such as strawberries, papayas, mangoes, or kiwis contain a lot of ascorbic acids (the technical term for vitamin C) – on average even significantly more than an orange.
- Other vitamin C bombs are hidden in vegetables: peppers, broccoli, cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts also have large amounts of valuable vitamins and often even other nutrients that are also important for you.
- Surprisingly, chili peppers contain large amounts of vitamin C and are also said to relieve muscle and joint pain with their capsaicin.
- If you like it particularly exotic, go in search of the bush plum. This is only very rarely found commercially here, but with up to 3000 mg of vitamin C per 100 g of fruit, it provides by far the most ascorbic acid. For comparison, orange has an average of around 70 mg of it.
- If you cannot or do not want to cover your daily vitamin C requirement with fruit, we recommend taking capsules.
