Ingredients for 10 servings:
- 1 kg flour
- ½ kg margarine
- 700 g potatoes, mashed
- some salt
- 1 egg(s)
- ¾ liter poppy seeds, grated
- ½ liter of milk
- 60 g butter
- 200 g sugar
- some lemon(s) – zest
- 1 pinch of cinnamon

Instructions
Working time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour
Crumble the flour and margarine together, then knead with the potatoes, egg, and salt to form a dough. For the filling, bring the poppy seeds and milk to a boil and add the remaining ingredients. Roll out the dough a few millimeters thick, spread with the poppy seed filling, swirl it into a strudel, and press it into small pastry cases (approx. 8 x 5 cm) with the handle of a wooden spoon. Baking temperature: approx. 180°C. Baking time: 20-25 minutes (golden yellow). The Waldviertel region is located in northwest Lower Austria on the border with the Czech Republic.
