Walnut and apple crumble

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 50 g walnuts
  • 75 g butter, cold
  • 150 g flour
  • 75 g sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • ½ packet of vanilla sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 4 m.-sized apples
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 75 g cranberries, dried
  • some fat, for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 35 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Roughly chop the walnuts. For the crumble, dice the butter. Combine the flour, sugar, salt, vanilla sugar, egg yolks, butter, and walnuts in a bowl and mix to form a crumble. Peel the apples and slice them into wedges. Drizzle with lemon juice. Mix the apples, cranberries, and brown sugar. Transfer to a greased ovenproof dish or 4 small baking dishes. Spread the crumble on top. Bake in a preheated oven at 175°C (160°C fan-assisted oven) for 35-40 minutes. Remove the crumble, let it cool slightly, and serve lukewarm.
