Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 250 g wheat flour type 1050
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 120 g sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon powder
- 1 tsp gingerbread spice
- 1 pinch of salt
- 25 g margarine
- 2 eggs
- 50 g pitted dates
- 100 g walnut halves
Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes
Mix the flour with the baking powder, sugar, and spices. Knead in the margarine and eggs. Finely dice the dates and roll them in flour to prevent them from sticking. Then knead them into the dough along with the walnuts. Cover the dough and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 170°C (top/bottom heat). Shape the dough into 4 strands, approximately 30 cm long. Place them on a baking sheet lined with baking paper, leaving some space between them, and bake for 20 minutes. After baking, let cool for a few minutes and then cut diagonally into 1.5 cm wide slices with a knife. Bake these slices on the baking paper for another 10 minutes.
