Westphalian onion bread

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 100 g bacon, streaky
  • 100 g minced meat
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 4 m.-sized onion(s)
  • 2 stalk(s) leeks
  • 1 garlic clove(s)
  • 1 bunch of chives
  • 1 bunch of parsley
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup cheese, grated, Emmental or Gouda
  • 1 some salt and pepper, from the mill
  • 1 pinch of nutmeg
  • 4 slices of bread

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Cut the bacon into cubes and fry in a pan with oil. Add the minced meat and fry. Clean, wash, and slice the onion and leek, add to the bacon, and sauté briefly. Peel the garlic and rub with salt. Sort and wash the chives and parsley, chop them finely, and stir them into the leek and onion mixture along with the garlic. Remove the pan from the heat. Whisk the eggs and cheese and fold them into the mixture. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Cover the bread slices with the mixture and bake in the oven until golden brown.
