Westphalian quark dish

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g quark
  • 0.38 liters of milk
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla sugar
  • 125 g pumpernickel
  • 4 cl rum or amaretto
  • 125 g dark chocolate
  • ½ jar cranberries, approx. 200 g

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 4 hours 20 minutes; Total time approx. 4 hours 35 minutes

Finely chop the pumpernickel and mix with 1 tablespoon of sugar, the coarsely grated chocolate, and the rum/Amaretto. Let it sit for 20 minutes. Stir the quark, milk, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and vanilla sugar until smooth. Fill a glass bowl in alternating layers with the quark, pumpernickel mixture, and cranberries, adding the quark mixture first and then last. Then refrigerate for about 4 hours. Serve with vanilla sauce or cream.
