Who Shouldn’t Eat Potatoes – The Nutritionist’s Answer

Renowned nutritionist Artem Leonov also added that the amount of potatoes a person eats directly depends on their gut microbiota.

What are the characteristics of the body that make it worthwhile to refrain from eating potatoes?

“Since potatoes have a high glycemic index – above 70 units – they should definitely not be consumed in case of carbohydrate metabolism disorders, metabolic syndrome, and diabetes. Also, in case of individual intolerance to potatoes, which is also common, because potatoes belong to the nightshade family and can cause a latent allergic reaction,” he said.

Leonov also added that it all depends on the gut microbiota. Anyone who does not have a carbohydrate metabolism disorder and an individual reaction to it can eat a lot of potatoes.
