Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • ½ cube of yeast
  • 220 g milk
  • 30 g butter or margarine
  • 60 g sugar
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 1 lemon(s), zest
  • 400 g wholemeal spelt flour or wholemeal wheat flour

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 2 hours

Wholemeal plait with egg and lemon

Mix the first five ingredients for about three minutes at 40°C on speed 2. Add the flour and knead for another 3 minutes on dough setting. Transfer the dough to a bowl and let it rise in a warm place for 30-90 minutes, until it has doubled in size. Preheat the oven to 180-200°C (top/bottom heat). Meanwhile, braid the dough. Bake the braid on a baking sheet lined with baking paper for about 25-35 minutes.
