Woodruff tea: This is how it is prepared

The preparation of woodruff tea is quite simple.

  • All you need for the tea is woodruff, boiling water and some honey, if you like.
  • A heaped teaspoon of the herb is now poured with about a quarter liter of water. It is best to use a tea strainer for this.
  • Let the tea steep for ten minutes and drink it while it is still hot. If you like, you can sweeten the tea with a little honey.
  • Since the tea has a calming effect, it can be drunk just before bedtime to help you fall asleep.
  • Woodruff contains coumarin. This substance can be toxic if consumed in excess. You should therefore not drink more than 1-2 cups per day.
