Yeast cakes

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 500 g flour
  • 1 bag(s) of dry yeast
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 egg(s)
  • ½ liter of milk
  • some cinnamon powder, if necessary
  • some sour cherries, possibly
  • e.g. sunflower oil or rapeseed oil for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 35 minutes

Combine flour, dry yeast, salt, and sugar. Heat the egg and milk to lukewarm and mix with the ingredients to form a fairly runny batter. Beat the batter with a hand mixer until it bubbles. Let the dough rise until it has doubled in volume. Then fry 2 tablespoons of batter at a time in hot sunflower or rapeseed oil, almost floating, in a pan for 10-12 minutes. Sprinkle with sugar before serving. This quantity makes about 16 cakes. If you like, you can also press sour cherries into the batter while baking, and instead of just using plain granulated sugar, you can mix the sugar with cinnamon.
