Yeast plait – not sweet

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 500 g flour
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • ½ cube of yeast, 20g
  • 15 g salt
  • 30 g butter, soft
  • 260 ml milk

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 hours 15 minutes

Important: Never use ingredients fresh from the fridge. Milk should be lukewarm and yeast at room temperature. Butter should be soft but not runny! Heat the milk to lukewarm, then combine the yeast and sugar and dissolve. Sift the flour into a large bowl, add the enriched milk all at once, add the butter and salt, and knead vigorously. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for at least 45 minutes. It will increase noticeably and will eventually double in size. Then divide it into 3 equal parts and shape into long braids. Let it rest for another 30 minutes. Then place in the preheated oven and bake at 180°C fan/200°C oven for around 45 minutes, then let it cool down in the oven for another 15 minutes.
