Ingredients for 6 servings:
- 500 g lentils, yellow
- 750 ml chicken broth, maybe a little more
- 2 potatoes
- 2 carrots
- 2 tomatoes
- 2 onions
- 4 garlic cloves, or less
- Salt
- pepper
- cumin

Recipe from Egypt
Wash the lentils thoroughly and bring them to a boil with the chicken broth. Peel and dice the potatoes and carrots. Quarter the tomatoes and onions. Peel the garlic. Add everything to the lentils and simmer with the lid slightly ajar over medium heat for about 1 hour. Purée until smooth. Season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with cumin and serve hot.
