The ultimate marble cake

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp, leveled baking soda
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 packets of vanilla sugar (or a good 4 tsp of homemade)
  • 4 eggs
  • 250 g butter or margarine, absolutely really SOFT
  • 1 cup sour cream (10%) OR sour cream (200g)
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder, heaped
  • 1 tbsp milk

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

1 cup = 200ml For the dough, combine flour, baking powder, and baking soda and sift into a mixing bowl. Add sugar, vanilla sugar, eggs, butter or margarine, and sour cream. Using a hand mixer (whisk), mix the ingredients for 2-3 minutes on high until you have a smooth dough. Put half of the dough into a second bowl; stir the milk and cocoa into one half. First, pour the dark dough into a greased and floured loaf pan (approx. 30 cm), then spread the light dough on top. Use a fork to spiral through the layers of dough to create a marbled pattern. Bake at 180°C (top/bottom heat) for approx. 60 minutes. Baking time can vary depending on the oven. Let the cake stand in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove from the pan and let it cool on a wire rack lined with baking paper. Decorate with chocolate coating, if desired. Note: The batter can, of course, also be filled into other shapes—e.g., a Bundt pan. Tip: Replace half of the sugar with powdered sugar for an even finer texture.
