Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 4 small pork schnitzels
- 2 bell peppers, red
- 2 large onions, sliced
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup whipped cream
- 1 pack of sheep’s cheese
- 1 garlic clove(s)
- 1 bag of cheese, grated (Emmental or Gouda)
- 1 pack of diced bacon
- 2 tomatoes
- salt and pepper
- 1 shot of water
Instructions
Working time approx. 25 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 55 minutes
Cut the schnitzel into smaller pieces, season with salt and pepper, fry briefly on both sides in a pan, place in a baking dish, and set aside. In a large bowl, mash the feta cheese with a fork, mix with the finely chopped garlic, and set aside. In the pan (in which the schnitzel was fried), fry the bell peppers and onions together with the bacon and deglaze the roasted ingredients with a splash of water. Add everything to the bowl with the feta cheese, mix with the cream and sour cream, and season with a little salt and pepper. Pour the mixture over the schnitzel and spread it out. Slice the tomatoes and top the contents of the baking dish with them, sprinkle with cheese, and bake in the oven at 200°C for about 30 minutes. We serve this with fan-shaped potatoes (which are also oven-friendly) and a mixed salad with honey and mustard vinaigrette. It’s probably also delicious with tagliatelle.
