Mediterranean meatballs

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 500 g minced beef
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 1 handful of breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp basil
  • 1 tbsp thyme
  • 1 tsp rosemary
  • 1 tsp paprika powder, hot
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • 500 ml tomatoes, pureed
  • e.g. basil
  • n. B. Thyme
  • e.g. oregano
  • Salt
  • pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Place the ground meat, egg, breadcrumbs, basil, thyme, rosemary, paprika, salt, and pepper in a bowl and knead until smooth. Then form into small balls about 1.5 cm in diameter (this amount will yield about 50-55 balls). Place the passata in a saucepan and season generously with the dried herbs, salt, and pepper, if desired. Then add the meatballs to the sauce, cover, and heat gently over low heat. The balls will be cooked through after about 20-30 minutes. Serve with rice.
