Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 300 g minced meat
  • 1 bell pepper(s), red
  • 2 small onions
  • 1 tbsp mustard, medium hot
  • 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 tsp, heaped garlic clove(s), grated
  • 1 tsp, sautéed marjoram or oregano
  • 1 tsp, heaped ginger, grated
  • ½ tsp cumin powder
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 2 tbsp breadcrumbs or soaked bread roll
  • 8 slices of toast
  • 8 slices of cheese
  • Paprika powder, sweet
  • Paprika powder, hot
  • salt and pepper
  • butter

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Baked bread dish

Knead the minced meat with finely chopped bell pepper, finely chopped onions, grated ginger, grated garlic, mustard, ketchup, marjoram, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper along with breadcrumbs and egg until well combined. Spread the slices of toast or white bread thinly with butter, cover with the mixture, and top with cheese. For a nice look, dust the cheese with a wafer-thin layer of sweet paprika. Place the toast on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and bake for 20 minutes in an oven that is NOT preheated, on the middle rack at maximum heat. Tip: These treats taste better lukewarm than hot from the oven. These toasts are great for preparing ahead of time for any party.
