Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 large baguette(s), approx. 400 g or 2 correspondingly smaller loaves
  • some butter
  • 350 g minced meat, half and half
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • salt and pepper
  • some nutmeg
  • 150 g Gouda, grated
  • 4 slices of medium-aged Gouda
  • 3 tomatoes

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

hearty and crispy

Finely chop the onion. Mix the ground beef, chopped onion, egg, tomato paste, breadcrumbs, grated Gouda, tomato paste, and seasonings. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Slice the bread lengthwise, butter, and spread with the ground beef mixture. Bake in the oven for 12 minutes. Leave some air space between the bread halves, otherwise they will become mushy and not crispy. Cut the Gouda slices into triangles. Slice the tomatoes and season lightly with salt. Remove the bread from the oven, then top with the tomato slices and the Gouda triangles. Return to the oven for another 3-4 minutes, until the cheese melts. Finally, cut the bread into manageable pieces. This recipe also works well with pre-baked baguettes. In this case, do not pre-bake the baguettes; instead, bake the entire baguette with the topping.
