Sauerkraut casserole

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g jacket potatoes
  • 200 g bacon, streaky
  • 100 g cheese (Gouda), grated
  • 500 g sauerkraut
  • 3 eggs
  • ½ liter of milk
  • salt and pepper
  • onion powder
  • 1 bunch of chives
  • 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp margarine
  • Fat for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Peel and slice the potatoes. Finely dice the bacon and mix with the cheese. Grease a casserole dish. Alternate the sauerkraut, potatoes, and the bacon and cheese mixture. The final layer is the sauerkraut. Whisk the eggs, milk, and seasonings. Finely chop the chives and add them. Pour over the casserole. Sprinkle the breadcrumbs and margarine in flakes on top. Bake at 200°C for about 30 minutes.
