Baked mashed potatoes

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg potatoes
  • 250 ml milk (hot)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • salt, grated nutmeg
  • 50 g cheese, Emmental (grated)
  • Herbs, fresh garden herbs

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Boil peeled potatoes in salted water, drain, and allow to steam thoroughly. Mash with a potato masher. Add milk, butter, egg yolk, and seasonings. Whisk until fluffy. Grease an ovenproof dish with a little margarine. Pour in the mashed potatoes and smooth the surface. Sprinkle with cheese. Place the dish on the middle rack of a preheated oven at 190°C (375°F) for about 15 minutes until golden brown. Remove the dish from the oven, sprinkle with herbs, and serve immediately. Delicious with pan-fried meat and a crisp salad.
