Sauerkraut bread

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 1 onion(s)
  • 1 bag of sauerkraut (285g)
  • 60 g ham, diced
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 150 g sour cream
  • 1 egg yolk
  • ½ tsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika powder
  • 6 slice(s) of bread(s) (brown bread)
  • 50 g cheese, grated

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Dice the onion. Drain the sauerkraut. Sauté the ham and diced onion in 1 tablespoon of oil. Add the cabbage and fry briefly. Let cool slightly. Add the sour cream, egg yolk, starch, and seasoning. Place the bread on a baking sheet and spread the mixture on top. Sprinkle with grated cheese. Bake in a preheated oven at 220°C for about 14 minutes. Serve with a glass of Federweißer or wine.
