Maultaschen with a twist

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 packs of Maultasche(s) filled with vegetables, from the refrigerated section
  • butter
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 200 g cooked ham
  • 200 ml cream
  • 100 g processed cheese
  • 50 g fried onions
  • 100 g cheese
  • 1 liter vegetable broth
  • salt and pepper
  • nutmeg
  • chili

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Cook the Maultaschen in the vegetable broth for about 20 minutes. Peel and dice the onions and fry in butter until golden brown. Chop the ham and add it, deglaze with cream, stir in the cream cheese, and season the sauce generously. Place the Maultaschen in a casserole dish and pour the sauce over them. Sprinkle with fried onions and grated cheese and bake in the oven for about 10 minutes. Serve with a green salad. If you’re looking for something less calorific, you can use Cremefine instead of cream and choose the lean version of the cheese.
