Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 250 g sloes
  • 200 g honey
  • 700 ml rum, white
  • 1 vanilla pod(s)
  • 2 pinches of orange peel
  • 1 small cinnamon stick(s)
  • 1 star anise (optional)

Wash the sloes and drain well. Score the sloes with a sharp knife and place them in the freezer overnight. Place the sloes in a wide-mouth bottle. Add honey, rum, a slit vanilla pod, orange peel, cinnamon stick, and—if desired—star anise. Let the liqueur steep for 2 months. After this time, strain the sloes if desired and use them as an accompaniment to desserts, cheese, and game ham.
