My eldest’s favorite dish

Cook the macaroni in plenty of salted water until al dente, drain, and set aside. Briefly fry the finely diced onion and garlic in a pan. Add the ham and fry for a few minutes. You can pre-season it with salt and pepper at this point. Add the tomatoes and let the whole thing simmer for a few minutes. Then stir in the parsley. Season again with salt and pepper, if desired. Grease a baking dish. Add half of the pasta to the dish, spread the tomato mixture on top, and cover with the remaining pasta. Briefly whisk the milk and eggs, season with salt and pepper. Pour this sauce over the casserole and sprinkle with the grated cheese. Bake in a preheated oven at 180-200°C for about 45 minutes, until a nice cheese crust forms.
