  • 2 packets of vanilla sugar
  • 250 g butter or margarine
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 kg apples
  • some cinnamon
  • ⅛ liter sherry
  • ⅛ liter of water
  • ½ stalk(s) cinnamon
  • Flour for the work surface
  • Grease for the tray

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

My grandma’s recipe, super delicious and quick to make!

For the topping, wash, peel, core, and dice the apples. Place the sherry and water in a saucepan. Add the apples, cinnamon, and cinnamon stick, and simmer for about 10 minutes. Then discard the liquid. Preheat the oven to 150°C. For the dough, place the flour on a work surface. Make a well in the center and add the quark, vanilla sugar, and a pinch of salt. Cut the butter or margarine into small pieces around the flour. Knead everything together. Put a little flour on the work surface and roll out 2/3 of the dough (you’ll need the rest later) and place it on a greased baking sheet. Prick the rolled-out dough a few times with a fork. Now add the cooked apple pieces to the base and spread everything out evenly. Roll out the remaining dough and cut into wavy strips about 3 cm wide (using a pastry wheel). Place these on the topping, like a lattice. Finally, sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon on top of the cake. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
