Farmer's dumplings

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 400 g flour
  • 250 ml milk or water
  • 80 g butter
  • Salt, nutmeg
  • 1 large onion(s)
  • 1 garlic clove(s)
  • 200 g bacon
  • 200 g mushrooms or chanterelles
  • Caraway seeds
  • salt and pepper
  • some lard
  • chives

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Make a dumpling dough from the first four ingredients. Use a spaetzle grater to make dumplings or scrape them directly from a wooden board into the boiling water. When they rise to the surface, let them boil briefly, remove them with a sieve, and refresh in cold water. Heat lard or oil, sauté the diced onion, diced bacon, and chopped garlic, add the finely chopped mushrooms, and finally, briefly roast the dumplings. Sprinkle with chives. Serve with a mixed salad.
