Nice sausage goulash

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 8 sausages (Wiener)
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 1 garlic clove(s)
  • 1 bottle of ketchup
  • 2 bell peppers, yellow
  • 1 bell pepper(s), red
  • 1 tsp sweet paprika powder
  • Pepper, black ground
  • Salt
  • olive oil
  • 1 tsp herbs, Italian
  • 1 can tomato(s) (pizza tomatoes)

Instructions

Working time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

ideal for children

Peel and finely dice the onions and garlic. Heat the olive oil in a pan and sauté the onions and garlic until soft (low heat, approx. 5 mins.), then pour into a saucepan. Slice the sausages, clean the peppers and cut them into small pieces. Add more olive oil to the pan and fry the sausage slices over high heat until brown (approx. 5 mins., turning several times). Add the onions and garlic to the pan, add the can of pizza tomatoes, and season with salt and pepper. Sauté the peppers in the pan in olive oil, season with Italian herbs, paprika, and salt, and add to the pan. Heat the pan, add tomato ketchup (1/2 to 1 bottle), depending on the consistency of the sauce, and simmer for approx. 10 mins., until the peppers are cooked through but not soft. They should still have a bite. The sweet aroma of the ketchup combines wonderfully with the tart herbs and the sausage. If you don’t have children, spice it up a bit with chili pepper or cayenne pepper. This dish goes best with noodles.
