Potato and ham gratin à la Sandra

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • some lard
  • 12 potatoes
  • 400 g cooked ham
  • 3 large onions
  • 1 bottle of Cremefine, or 1 pot of cream, approx. 200 g
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 250 ml milk
  • some salt and pepper
  • nutmeg
  • possibly fresh herbs (e.g. chives, parsley)
  • some butter
  • 150 g cheese, grated

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

Grease a casserole dish well with lard. Wash, peel, and thinly slice the potatoes. Dice the cooked ham. Peel the onion and also dice it into small cubes. Layer the potato slices in the casserole dish, lightly salting and peppering each layer. Place the ham and onion cubes in the center. The last layer should consist of potato slices. Mix the milk, Cremefine, egg, salt, pepper, nutmeg, and the finely chopped herbs together and spread everything over the casserole. Sprinkle the grated cheese on top and finish with a few thin slices of butter. Bake in a preheated oven at medium heat (approx. 180-200°C top/bottom heat) for 40-60 minutes. A fresh salad goes very well with this.
