Simple bread casserole

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 1 baguette(s)
  • 3 m.-large tomato(s)
  • 12 slice(s) roast pork, or smoked pork
  • 12 slice(s) of cheese, e.g. Edam, mountain cheese etc.
  • 4 eggs
  • 100 ml milk or cream
  • 1 bunch of parsley
  • Salt
  • pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes

quick, tasty and inexpensive casserole, also suitable for beginners

Cut the baguette into 12 2 cm thick slices. Then cut 12 slices from the tomatoes and tuck each slice into the cold cuts. Layer a baguette slice, a cold cut/bunch of tomatoes, and the cheese on top of each other in a baking dish. There should be 2 rows of 6 bunches each. Next, whisk the eggs with the milk or cream, add the finely chopped parsley, and season with salt and pepper. Pour the mixture over the casserole and bake at 170°C for about 45 minutes until golden brown. Serve with a fresh salad.
