White Cabbage / Bavarian Cabbage

The perfect white cabbage / bavarian cabbage recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 3 piece Cube of sugar
  • 100 ml Water
  • 2 cl White wine vinegar
  • 2 tbsp Lard
  • 200 g Onions
  • 500 g Fresh white cabbage
  • 100 ml White wine
  • Salt
  • Pepper from the grinder
  1. Put the sugar cubes and the water in a saucepan, reduce a little and allow to caramelize until golden brown.
  2. Deglaze with the vinegar and add the lard.
  3. Cut the onions into fine strips, put them in the saucepan and sauté until light brown.
  4. Then add the chopped garlic and the white cabbage cut into strips to the saucepan and stir in. Pour in the white wine, possibly a little more poultry stock. Season salt and pepper and cook covered for approx. 30-35 minutes.
  5. Tip 5: If you like, you can add caraway seeds.
