English Orange Jam

The perfect english orange jam recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 1 kg Organic oranges
  • Orange juice
  • 500 g Preserving sugar 2: 1
  • Angostura
  1. First of all …. the preparation is a bit time-consuming, but the result rewards you for it.
  2. Wash the oranges with hot water, put them in a saucepan and cover well with water, and let them boil until they are “done”. approx. 30 minutes .. (test … if you can pierce a straw, then they are good!), take it out and let it cool down.
  3. Now peel off the whole shell. Scrape off the white peel with a sharp knife and pick it up. Julienne the rest of the peel and then cut it into small pieces.
  4. Cut the fillets out of the fruit, pick up the fruit body !!! … then we put the “white” skin in a bag and tie it up.
  5. Weigh the pulp and fill up with as much orange juice that we get 1000 grams. Now add the preserving sugar and the “sachet” and bring to the boil until the gelation point is reached. (In the O-recipe you take normal sugar and let it boil down until the desired setting point is reached). Then fish out the bag and squeeze it out (goes well with the spaetzle press ..;)))
  6. Now season the mass with the Angostura and pour into prepared glasses immediately.
  7. 7th mass makes 6 glasses of 220 ml each.
