Drinks: Orange Liqueur
The perfect drinks: orange liqueur recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 2 piece Oranges untreated
- 1 piece Vanilla pod
- 250 g Rock sugar brown
- 250 ml Water
- 500 ml Grain
- Bring the rock sugar to the boil with the water and cook until the sugar has dissolved.
- Wash the oranges with hot water, peel them with a peeler so that there is no white skin on the peel. Now remove the white skin from the fruits and cut the oranges into slices.
- In a suitable, tightly sealable glass, first place the peel, then the vanilla pod cut into pieces and the orange slices. Pour the hot sugar solution over it and fill up with the alcohol.
- Close the glass and let it stand in a bright and warm place for at least 4 weeks (for me it was six weeks). Shake it up every now and then.
- Now filter the liqueur through a cloth, add sugar, grain or water to taste and fill into hot-rinsed bottles.
- I prefer to use this liqueur for cooking and baking. But such a little sip in between is not to be despised either. However, I have found that it will gain in taste over time and will only taste really good after six months.
