Vanilla Buttermilk Waffles
The perfect vanilla buttermilk waffles recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 300 g Flour
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 0,5 teaspoon Baking soda
- 1 piece Egg, separated
- 25 g Butter, melted
- 250 Milliliters Buttermilk, room temperature
- 1 tablespoon Vanilla extract or half a vanilla pod
- Possibly a pinch of tartar powder for the egg whites
- 1. Preheat the waffle iron. Mix the flour, salt and baking soda well in a large bowl. In another (smaller) bowl, stir together the egg yolks, butter and buttermilk. 2. Beat the egg white until stiff. 3. Slowly stir the milk mixture into the flour bowl, but do not stir until smooth. Small lumps are no drama here. 4. Carefully fold the egg whites into the mixture. 5. Bake the batter in the waffle iron (according to the instructions) as desired. 6. Serve with maple syrup, fruits and / or Nutella, if you like. Note: The number varies depending on the manufacturer and waffle iron. My iron makes about 3 Belgian waffles.
