Smartie Cupcakes

The perfect smartie cupcakes recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

For the dough:

  • 200 g Flour
  • 1,25 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 150 g Soft butter
  • 100 g Sugar
  • 280 g Smarties / other chocolates
  • 2 tbsp Buttermilk room temperature
  • 100 ml Whipped cream
  • 2 Eggs room temperature
  • 1 tsp Vanilla flavor

For the frosting:

  • 300 g Cream cheese room temperature
  • 180 g Powdered sugar
  • 175 gr White chocolate
  • 80 g Soft butter
  1. Preheat oven: 180 ° top and bottom heat For the dough: Mix flour, baking powder and salt. Beat the butter in a separate bowl for 10 minutes with a hand mixer until very creamy, so that the butter turns whitish. Then add sugar and stir in. Then stir in the eggs and the vanilla flavor one after the other. Sieve the flour mixture onto the butter mixture, add the buttermilk and then stir into a smooth dough. Whip the cream until stiff and fold in. Put 2 tablespoons of the smarties aside, stir the rest into the batter with a spoon. Line 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners. Fill in the dough evenly. Bake on the middle rack for 20 minutes. Let cool down. For the frosting: Mix the butter with a hand mixer until creamy, then whip up creamy with powdered sugar. Add the cream cheese and stir in. Melt the chocolate in a water bath and let it cool down, but it should still be liquid! Stir chocolate into the mixture. Cover the whole thing with cling film and put in the refrigerator for half an hour. Pour the frosting into a piping bag and sprinkle bonnets on the cooled cupcakes. Spread the set aside smarties on top. DONE 🙂 (The cupcakes should be stored covered in the refrigerator)
