Ginger tea tastes spicy and has a positive effect on your health.
- Ginger is a medicinal plant from Southeast Asia. The tubers you know from the supermarket are the rootstock of the spice plant.
- The contained essential oils and pungent substances such as gingerol and shogaol promote digestive processes. They stimulate the formation of stomach acid and also increase appetite.
- Ginger also helps against inflammation by stimulating blood circulation and promoting healing processes in the organism.
- Among other things, vitamin C, potassium, magnesium, zinc, and iron are contained in the tuber and one reason why ginger is so healthy.
Ginger tea – so much of it is advisable
In general, up to 5 g of ginger powder or 50 g of fresh ginger per day are considered harmless to health. However, you should only consume ginger in moderation or after consulting your doctor in the following cases:
- If you are taking blood thinning medication, you should not consume too much ginger tea. Ginger has a blood-thinning effect and can increase the risk of bleeding.
- Even if you suffer from stomach problems such as a sensitive stomach, ginger is only recommended in small quantities. The tuber can cause stomach irritation.
- Ginger consumption is not recommended if you have gallstones. It is also better to avoid ginger before surgery or dental treatment because of its blood-thinning effect.
- Pregnant women should also avoid the tuber, as the substances, it contains can trigger contractions. It is also advisable to avoid ginger while breastfeeding.
