Baking a Nutella cake: ingredients for the recipe

You should have all the ingredients for the dough at home. The quantities refer to a cake in a 28 cm cake tin or a 25 x 25 cm baking tin. If you use smaller baking pans, use fewer of each. The ingredients:

  • 5 fresh eggs
  • 600 grams of flour
  • 250 grams of butter
  • 400 grams of sugar
  • 6 tbsp cocoa
  • 200 ml cream
  • 2 packets of baking powder
  • 200g Nutella
  • Powdered sugar, some Nutella, or couverture to decorate the surface.

Juicy Nutella cake – that’s how easy it is to make

You don’t have to be a pastry chef to make this easy Nutella cake a success. With our guide you can do it:

  1. First, beat the eggs and sugar until fluffy.
  2. Next, add the flour and butter and mix in with a hand mixer. By the way: If you melt the butter, the dough will be more even and you won’t have to stir as long.
  3. When you have thoroughly mixed in the flour and butter, add the cocoa powder, the Nutella, the cream, and the baking powder, and continue stirring until the dough is nice and smooth. Finally, stir the dough for two to three minutes on the highest setting of the hand mixer.
  4. Grease the baking tin well with butter before pouring it into the batter and preheat the oven to 180 degrees for a fan oven.
  5. Now put the cake in the oven for 40 to 50 minutes. Towards the end of the baking time, do a skewer test every now and then to check if the cake is ready. To do this, poke a wooden skewer into the dough: if nothing sticks to the skewer, the cake is baked through and can be removed from the oven.
  6. Allow the cake to cool before carefully removing or turning it out of the tin. Your Nutella cake is ready – enjoy it!
  7. If you like, sprinkle some icing sugar on the cake with a sieve or spread an extra layer of Nutella or couverture on the cake.
