  • 250 g raisins *
  • 125 g nuts **
  • 1 ½ packets of baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 2 tbsp rum

Instructions

Working time approx. 1 hour; Rest time approx. 8 hours; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes; Total time approx. 10 hours 30 minutes

according to a family recipe from the Swabian Alb

* The raisins can be replaced in whole or in part with dried dates and figs. I prefer that. ** I use chopped walnuts and almond slivers. Peel, core, and finely slice the apples (I slice them with a radish slicer). Mix the apples with the sugar, raisins (you can) and rum and let them soak overnight. The next day, add the remaining ingredients and mix. Shape into a loaf and bake in a preheated oven at 175°C (top/bottom heat) for 1 1/4 – 1 1/2 hours. The result is a very tasty dark apple bread. Every autumn, all of our relatives ask when we will finally bring back the delicious apple bread.
